Best Candidates for Veneers
Cosmetic veneers may be used to instantly hide stains and chips on your teeth, improve worn down or slightly misaligned teeth, and fix teeth that are abnormally spaced or shaped. At Trusted Dental Care, your veneers will be custom-created to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive, balanced, and natural look. At your consultation, Dr. G. will listen to your goals and expectations so that he can personalize your treatment. Dr. G. will also help you determine whether you are a good candidate for cosmetic veneers by checking the total health of your mouth. Ideal candidates for porcelain veneers should not have symptoms of gum disease or habitually grind the teeth and clench your jaw (bruxism).
The Treatment Process
Porcelain veneers are generally placed over the course of two appointments. During your first visit, Dr. G. will prepare your teeth to receive veneers by removing a thin layer of tooth enamel. This helps the veneers sit flush within your smile for a natural, even appearance. Using expert craftsmanship, Dr. G. will design and customize each individual veneers to match your desired smile outcomes. A digital impression of your teeth will then be taken and sent to our lab, along with special instructions on the precise shape, size, and color, each custom veneer should be crafted. A set of temporary veneers will be placed for you to wear while our partner lab fabricates your veneers from the highest quality porcelain. Your veneers will take about two weeks to create, after which we will have you return to our office to have them bonded in place. Once your veneers are bonded, Dr. G. may make small adjustments to ensure a comfortable, natural-looking fit.
After Your Veneers Procedure
Since getting veneers usually does not require anesthesia, you should be able to continue your daily tasks following your appointment. You might experience some sensitivity to hot and cold meals for a couple of days, but this should fade away. Your veneers should be cleaned just like your natural teeth, with regular flossing and brushing. While cosmetic veneers are more stain-resistant compared to your natural enamel, you may wish to avoid dark-colored food and drinks that tend to keep your smile bright. To avoid damaging your veneers, we recommend that you avoid chewing on hard objects, like ice, pens, or your fingernails. Continue to schedule dental examinations and cleanings at Trusted Dental Care so we can track the condition of your veneers, teeth, gums, and general oral health. When porcelain veneers receive proper care, they can often last for up to ten years.
Will Insurance Cover Veneers?
Veneers are a cosmetic treatment and, as such, are generally not a covered benefit under most dental insurance plans. Trusted Dental Care is delighted to offer a range of flexible payment methods, such as no-or-low cost financing, to make attaining your dream smile within reach. During the consultation, Dr. G. will personalize your treatment to match your goals and budget. Our business team can then review your payment choices and help you select the option that works best for your needs.
