We have more exciting news to share from the Trusted Dental Care family
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the International College of Dentists’ USA Section Annual Convocation in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Fesaha Gebrehiwot, Dr. G, was officially inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, earning the honored designation of FICD. Just a few months ago, we celebrated Dr. G earning his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry. Now he holds two of dentistry’s most respected fellowships, both earned in the same year.
If you’ve trusted Dr. G with your smile, this honor reflects what you already know: he doesn’t just treat teeth. He serves people.
What Is the ICD?
FICD stands for Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and unlike most credentials in dentistry, it can’t be applied for. It has to be earned through a career of service, then offered by invitation.
The International College of Dentists (ICD) is the oldest and largest dental honor society in the world. It was conceived in Tokyo in 1920 by Dr. Louis Ottofy and Dr. Tsurukichi Okumura, and today it includes more than 12,000 Fellows across over 140 countries. Roughly 6,000 of those
Fellows belong to the USA Section. Becoming one of them requires:
- A Nomination From Existing Fellows: Fellowship is by invitation only. A dentist must be recommended by current ICD Fellows who have seen their work and character firsthand. There is no application form and no fee that buys a seat.
- A Review by Credentials Committees: Each candidate’s professional achievements, leadership, and service are evaluated by a series of credentials committees to confirm they are truly deserving of the honor.
- A Record of Service Beyond the Chair: The ICD’s motto centers on recognizing service and the opportunity to serve. Fellows are chosen for meritorious service to the profession and to their communities, not just clinical skill.
- A Formal Convocation Ceremony: Fellowship is officially conferred at the Section’s Annual Convocation, where each new Fellow receives a membership plaque, a gold lapel pin, and an engraved gold key. For Dr. G, that moment came on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk, right here in Texas.
Dr. G is now part of a select group of dentists worldwide recognized by their peers for leadership, integrity, and service. He can now use the title FICD after his name, alongside his FAGD.

How Dr. G Got Here
The ICD honors dentists whose careers reflect service, and Dr. G’s story has been about service from the start. He came to the United States from Eritrea, East Africa, through a Diversity Visa Lottery. He learned English, earned a degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University, worked as a product engineer at Motorola, and then chose a new path: earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2012.
Since then, he has never stopped investing in his patients. Dr. G has completed more than 1,300 hours of continuing education. He’s a graduate of the Kois Center and The Dawson Academy, and he holds implant training from both the Resnik Implant Institute and the Pikos Institute. In June 2026, he earned his FAGD.
The FICD is different. The FAGD proves what Dr. G knows. The FICD recognizes who he is: a dentist his peers trust, respect, and see as a leader in serving others. If you’ve ever noticed that your visits with Dr. G feel more personal, more thorough, and more like a real conversation about your health, that’s exactly what his fellow dentists saw, too.
Why an FICD Dentist Matters
Credentials tell you a dentist has studied, and peer recognition tells you how they practice. The ICD only invites dentists whose colleagues vouch for their ethics, leadership, and care for others.
For patients, Dr. G’s FICD means:
- Care rooted in integrity: ICD Fellows are held to the highest standards of professional competence and personal ethics. You can trust that your treatment plan is built around what you need, not what’s easiest to sell.
- A dentist respected by other dentists: Fellowship comes from peer nomination and review. The professionals who know dentistry best looked at Dr. G’s work and said he belongs.
- A commitment to lifelong learning: Education is one of the ICD’s core values. Paired with his FAGD, it reflects a dentist who keeps improving long after dental school.
- Service at the heart of every visit: The ICD exists to recognize dentists who serve. That same spirit shows up in how Dr. G listens, explains your options, and treats every patient like family.
Two Fellowships, One Commitment
Dr. G will be the first to tell you that honors aren’t the point; his patients are. The FAGD reflects the hundreds of hours he’s put into mastering every area of dentistry. The FICD reflects the trust he’s earned from the profession. Together, they describe the kind of dentist families in Wylie and the surrounding area can count on for decades. From Eritrea to Arizona State to the University of Washington, from a Fellowship stage in Las Vegas to a Convocation in San Antonio, Dr. G has earned every step. And the patients of Trusted Dental Care are better for it.
Congratulations, Dr. G. FAGD, FICD, well deserved.
